Magnolia Leaves are harvested from our property and is FREE of pesticides, chemicals, etc. They are both functional and decorative for your vivarium/terrarium.
Using leaf litter helps to create a natural look that is desirable in both small and large terrariums. Leaf litter also helps to mimic the natural habitat of many species including isopods and geckos which use the leaf litter for hiding and hunting and live on a deep layer of it. It is also great for clean up crews who depend on the decaying leaves.
As the leaves decompose it creates a source of food for springtails and isopods while enriching the substrate for healthier plants. As the leaves break down we recommend adding a new layer to keep the process growing. In smaller habitats we love to use a combination of Live Oak leaf litter with a few Magnolia leaves as accents.
The leaf litter has not been cleaned and as such, you will need to heat treat it if you choose to.
Southern Magnolia Leaf Litter is sold in gallon bags. Please note that the color/size of the leaves may vary due to time of year.
